Winter is coming. No, winter is here! The Christmas markets are open, the children are looking mesmerised at the brightly coloured advent calendars. It is time to decorate a Christmas tree, maybe bake a cookie or a dozen. It is time for family. We will be away, doing family-related things from Wednesday, 19.12.2018, until New Year. We are expecting to see you again, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, on Wednesday, 02.01.2019. And remember: it is easier to see arrows in the snow than in the grass.

Hey folks! You know how we are always looking for opportunities to expand our knowledge and expertise. Partially because we have to, but mostly because there are so many awesome aspects of archery we still have not tried. Thus, Claudio, Naomi and Konstantin went to a thumb archery training and got waaaay more than they hoped for. They learned how to properly handle horseback bows, differences between Ottoman and Arabic draws and, of course, how to shoot with one of them fancy khatras. This got them so excited, we might be getting a new addition to our bow library soon. Many thanks to Wilhelm Payer, the Artemis archery club and the Viennese archery association (WBSV) for organising this.
We had a great bittersweet Dragon Shooting Day yesterday, June 22nd. Zoë Woodcock, one of our first and most active international archers, is pursuing her career all the way to the Middle Kingdom. So we gathered, shot dragons, played games and raised a toast to dear departing friends. Thank you, Zoë, for helping shape our great community. Psst! Did you know that there is an 11% discount on all arrows on bogensportwelt.de with the promo code ELFMETER? But only as long as Germany remains in the football World cup. So we figure, pretty much until the end, right?
What could possibly be better than doing something we enjoy… even when not shooting arrows. How about making them? It is a very practical skill to have: not only can we use the fruit of our labour for some very satisfying archery moments, but it also saves money. Therefore we (almost) always love making more arrows. And therefore we would like to share this skill with you.
Let us guide you through the steps of arrow making in one afternoon. At the end of the session, you get to go home with your own custom-made arrows. The first group of six fledgling fletchers will come together on Saturday, March 17th, from 15:00. A second date will be announced later. We are looking forward to your coming! ... that to make the 20 cm long central serving on the bowstring, about 1.5 m nylon string is required?
